Does the ionizer cause ozone? I see they mention Plasmawave tech but they also mention ionization. Can you turn off ionization?
On the description on Amazon, it says that the Plasmawave does not generate ozone. In the manual, it says that there is an "ozonator". There is no way to turn off the ionization, as there is a single dial on the front that turns on and adjusts fan speed the more you turn it. The ionizer itself isn't a problem, as positive/negative ions are perfectly safe, but I'm still unclear myself as to whether this generates ozone. I would contact customer support, which I very well may do so myself to verify.
Are the filters washable?
The pre-filter is washable but the main filter is not.
Where is the Plasmawave and the UV Light? The long tube looks like the UV light to me.
You are right. The long tube is the UV light. The plasma generator is linked up to one of the two prongs on the top side of the air purifier. You will notice two sets of prongs - one for plasmawave and another for ions.
Does Amazon sell the filters for this unit?
How noticeable is the high pitch sound from the plasmawave generator?
Honestly, I think this question is difficult to answer because of the varying degrees of sensitivity people have. I'm somewhat sensitive to sounds but more so to smells and allergens, so I'm okay with it. I've never had a problem with, and in fact like, a little white noise such as a fan or AC. This does go beyond those sounds in pitch, but I perceive that my lungs feel better so I can deal with it. For me it's a trade off because I have asthma, terrible allergies and a family history of COPD. Also I live in a busy & loud area, so the white noise can drown out other sounds, which is a plus. It really depends on one's senses, I think.
Can this unit be used in a car?
No, it is for your home or office space.
Does it fit countries that are 220V? Just wondering if it comes with a transformer that says it can be used between 100v-220v.
Yes. This Mammoth HEPA air purifier has the transformer that works for 100v - 220v. However, you will need an adaptor unless the plug in your country has the same type as the ones in the US.
Is the plasmawave does put out a odor like ozone or similar?
Yes, however it is barely noticeable unless you place your nose over the unit.
Received the two I ordered today. One of the clips on the UV light is broken and both have a pretty annoying electrical high pitched hum. Anyone else?
Yes. I had a clip broken on one of the 2 units ordered. However, it does not seem to affect the function. I have been using both units in my office for several months without any issues. I just got used to the high pitched hum. The filters do work well without giving off strong negative ion odors.
I have the 7 stage model. The fan motor makes a rubbing noise - very irritating. Anyone else?
Mine is very quiet. I would get advice from the maker.
Would the smaller 4-stage model remove strong cooking smells?
I believe the 7 & 4 stage units are the same in size. Both use a Pre-filter, pleated HEPA Filter and odor carbon Filter. The carbon filter is for odor. So it would help. I purchased for my wife to use in her office. It's a nice looking small unit for that environment. It's small and may not be able to do what you want it to do . Maybe in a small kitchen.
How many square feet will this unit service effectively?
400 to 500 sq feet; maybe more if you have an open layout. I do not.
